Rhino Lodge is located just a few hundred metres from the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater (at approx. 2,200 m altitude) and overlooks high montane forest rather than the crater floor itself. It comprises 24 ensuite rooms, each with a veranda facing the forest, a wood‑burning stove in the room to cope with cold nights, and simple but comfortable furnishings.
The lodge embraces a community and eco‑friendly approach: many staff are from the local Maasai community, and the lodge sources supplies locally and keeps a low‑impact design.
