Tarangire National Park covers around 2,850 km² and is famous for its massive elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and stunning savannah landscapes. During the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a vital water source, drawing thousands of animals from surrounding areas — creating one of Tanzania’s most impressive wildlife concentrations.
Visitors can spot elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and antelopes, along with over 550 bird species, making it a birdwatcher’s paradise. It’s also one of the few parks in Tanzania where you can see the rare fringe-eared oryx and greater kudu.
The park’s scenery is dotted with ancient baobabs, seasonal swamps, and open grasslands, giving it a unique beauty — especially at sunrise and sunset. Tarangire offers a more intimate and less crowded safari experience compared to Serengeti, ideal for travelers who love photography and quiet game drives.
